If you are not from a part of town that other people tend to respect then suffice it to say that you are going to face a real uphill battle with regards to the kind of opinions that you might want people to end up having of you. Most of the time their opinions would not be relevant to the manner in which you have currently chosen to end up living your life, but understanding that there are stereotypes that need to be addressed is important because other members of your community are going to suffer because of these things as well.
What you need to do here is find ways in which you can end up challenging these stereotypes as much as you can.
